4 Signs Of A Bad Timing Belt

  • Ticking noise from the engine
  • Engine won’t start
  • Engine misfire
  • Oil leak from the front of the motor

Why Is It Important To Change Your Timing-Belt On Time?

The timing belt is an internal engine component that makes your engine run. It rotates the cam and crankshaft in sync and makes sure the cylinders are firing at the right time. With out a timing belt, your car isn’t moving. If the belt were to snap it can cause serious damage to your engine. The most common occurrences are bent valves and that could cost you hundreds of dollars to fix. Other consequences to a broken timing belt are cylinder, cylinder head, and piston damage along with camshaft damage. Replacing it on time can help avoid any serious repairs and prevent from anything else being damaged.

What Is Replaced With The Timing Belt?

Although not always necessary, but highly advised, your mechanic will recommend replacing the water pump and belt tensioner along with the timing belt. All three components work together, ultimately wearing out together. You don’t want a new timing belt going bad because the tensioner gives out.
